This website uses cookies

We use cookies to personalise content and ads, to provide social media features and to analyse our traffic. We also share information about your use of our site with our social media, advertising and analytics partners who may combine it with other information that you’ve provided to them or that they’ve collected from your use of their services.

Cookie Policy

What are cookies?

A cookie is a small text file that a website stores on your computer or mobile device when you visit the site.

  • First party cookies are cookies set by the website you're visiting. Only that website can read them. In addition, a website might potentially use external services, which also set their own cookies, known as third-party cookies.
  • Persistent cookies are cookies saved on your computer and that are not deleted automatically when you quit your browser, unlike a session cookie, which is deleted when you quit your browser.

Every time you visit our websites, you will be prompted to accept or refuse cookies. The purpose is to enable the site to remember your preferences (such as user name, language, etc.) for a certain period of time. That way, you don't have to re-enter them when browsing around the site during the same visit.

Cookies can also be used to establish anonymised statistics about the browsing experience on our sites.

How do we use cookies?

Currently, there are four types of cookies that may be generated as you browse our site: Strictly Necessary, Statistics, Preference and Marketing cookies.

1. Strictly Necessary Cookies

These cookies are essential for you to browse the website and use its features, such as accessing secure areas of the site. Cookies that allow web shops to hold your items in your cart while you are shopping online are an example of strictly necessary cookies. These cookies will generally be first-party session cookies. While it is not required to obtain consent for these cookies, what they do and why they are necessary are explained in the table below.

How do I control Strictly Necessary Cookies?

You can use your browser settings to control whether or not we set session cookies. More information on your browser settings is provided at the bottom of this page.

Please be aware that these cookies are critical to the efficient working of the site. If you choose to disable these cookies from this site, the functionality of the site may be greatly reduced.

2. Statistics Cookies

Also known as "performance cookies," these cookies collect information about how you use a website, like which pages you visited and which links you clicked on. None of this information can be used to identify you. It is all aggregated and, therefore, anonymized. Their sole purpose is to improve website functions. This includes cookies from third-party analytics services as long as the cookies are for the exclusive use of the owner of the website visited.

Statistical information is used in reports and to improve our site. For example, we have used analytics data to add, remove or change features of the site based on how popular they are with users.

We track, for example:

  • the numbers of visitors to individual pages;
  • when pages were visited;
  • how long users stayed on the page;
  • the IP address of the user of the website;
  • the page they came from;
  • technical data about the device being used to browse the site (such as browser and operating system version, and display size) — we use this data to ensure that the technology our site uses is appropriate for the majority of our users, and how best to display the site for users who have less capable browsers.

More information about Statistics cookies

We use cookies from different partners including Google to provide our analytics data. You can read more about how Google Analytics treats your data on their web site. You can also read Google's full privacy policy.

How do I control Statistics cookies?

Google provides a tool to opt-out of Google Analytics. This is available for all modern browsers in the form of a browser plugin. Additionally, you can control how cookies are set using your browser settings.

3. Preference cookies

Also known as "functionality cookies," these cookies allow a website to remember choices you have made in the past, like what language you prefer, whether you have accepted our cookie policy, what region you would like weather reports for, or what your user name and password are so you can automatically log in.

4. Marketing cookies

The advertisements you see displayed on this, and other, sites are generated by third parties. These services may use their own anonymous cookies to track how many times a particular ad has been displayed to you and may track your visits to other sites where their ads are displayed. Please note that advertisers can only track visits to sites which display their ads or other content. This tracking is anonymous, meaning that they do not identify who is viewing which ads.

Tracking in this manner allows advertisers to show you ads that are more likely to be interesting to you, and also limit the number of times you see the same ad across a wide number of sites. As an example of how advertisers operate, if you recently researched holidays, adverts for holiday operators may subsequently appear on our sites.

We do not have access to, or control over, these third party cookies; nor can we view the data held by these advertisers. Online advertisers provide ways for you to opt-out of your browsing being tracked. More information about the advertisers we use, and how to opt-out, is provided below.

Youtube

We display clips from Youtube related to our purchase opportunities. You can view Youtubes's privacy policy on their website. This page also allows you to control what cookies YouTube saves on your computer.

Google

We work with Google to optimise how Google ads are displayed. You can discover how Google protects your privacy relating to ads at its privacy policy.

Cabestan: Crafting Timeless Luxury, One Watch at a Time

Introducing Cabestan, where the French term "Cabestan" gracefully translates to "winch" in English. This translation reveals the foundation of an innovative interpretation. For more than 450 years, watchmakers have relied on the fusee and chain system to ensure a consistent energy distribution from a mainspring throughout a watch's power reserve. Cabestan broke the boundaries and transformed a reliant mechanism found in clocks into a timepiece that can be worn on the wrist.

In 2008, Cabestan introduced the Winch Tourbillon Vertical, revolutionizing traditional watchmaking by adopting vertically aligned winches. This unique approach has now become a distinguishing feature across Cabestan's entire watch collection.

History

From Vision to Reality

In 2003, master watchmaker Jean-François Ruchonnet's vision materialized as he introduced Cabestan Geneve to the world. His passion for innovation and craftsmanship laid the foundation for a brand that would make waves in the watchmaking industry. Cabestan Geneve wasn't just another watch manufacturer; it was a declaration of watchmaking excellence.

Milestones

The brand's journey was marked by remarkable milestones. Most notably, the creation of the Vertical Winch Tourbillon, a mechanism that redefined precision in watchmaking. Additionally, Cabestan Geneve collaborated with iconic watchmakers like Eric Coudray aka the Watchmaking Wizard, the engineer and mastermind behind the legendary Jaeger-LeCoultre Gyrotourbillion, reinforcing its commitment to pushing the boundaries of innovation.

In the world of watchmaking, some stick to the status quo, while others prefer to break the mold. In theory, all watch brands claim to be innovative and creative, pushing the boundaries of what's possible. In reality, the vast majority of brands produce the same type of three-handed round watches that have been around for centuries, simply because it's profitable.

There are a few watchmakers that truly embrace innovation. Brands like Breguet and Patek Philippe stick to traditional watchmaking and make good profits. Bovet and Hysek, on the other hand, offer both traditional and unique timepieces. HYT with its fluidic mechanism and Cabestan are entirely unconventional and keep pushing the boundaries of haute horology innovation.

Vertical Winch Tourbillon

Precision Redefined

The heart of Cabestan Geneve's innovation lies in its Vertical Winch Tourbillon. This intricate mechanism revolutionized watchmaking, offering unprecedented precision. The tourbillon's vertical design negates the effects of gravity on the escapement, ensuring exceptional accuracy. It's a testament to the brand's commitment to redefining timekeeping.

The Chain driven movement

Primarily, the pivotal factor at play here is mass. Cabestan adheres to the same principles as any other watch component when it comes to their chains: the lighter the weight, the superior the performance. In this domain, the fundamental laws of physics cannot be circumvented; the greater the mass, the more energy is necessitated for movement.

Cabestan has already achieved noteworthy milestones, as exemplified by the Trapezium, boasting a remarkable power reserve of three full days. This accomplishment surpasses the performance of most watches operating with a traditional Swiss movement. Cabestan's ongoing research endeavors are poised to shed a few more grams, a development that will further augment autonomy. Lionel Betoux affirms, "A chain capable of delivering three kilograms of traction with 1.5-millimeter-diameter links imposes substantial constraints. Nevertheless, we are actively exploring alternative materials to steel to contend with these formidable loads.

Craftsmanship

Mastering the Art

Cabestan Geneve's dedication to perfection is evident in its craftsmanship. Each watch is meticulously handcrafted by master watchmakers. The process is labor-intensive, involving countless hours of painstaking work to ensure every detail meets the highest standards of quality. The current CEO Lionel Betoux puts a lot of emphasis on impackable precision in the manufacturing process and highlights the exclusivity of the produced units.

"We make 30 pieces per year. That’s enough to enable us to continue developing"

Customization

For Cabestan, maintaining unwavering control over its development is undeniably imperative. This extends to their customized timepieces, which are no exception. Since assuming the reins in 2013, Lionel Betoux has significantly propelled the domain of personalized watches within Cabestan. Nevertheless, the boundaries remain well-defined:

"Regarding external customization, clients possess virtually boundless options. However, the movement remains under our exclusive purview. We are resolute in upholding absolute mastery over Cabestan's technical evolution."

Luxury and Value

Cabestan Geneve watches are undoubtedly a luxury investment. However, they offer a level of craftsmanship and innovation that sets them apart. These watches aren't just accessories; they are symbols of discerning taste and luxury.

Investment Potential

Beyond luxury, Cabestan Geneve watches hold the potential for a wise investment. As the brand continues to innovate and establish itself in the luxury watch market, owning a Cabestan Geneve watch becomes not just a statement but also an investment in a piece of horological history. Being featured in a variety of high-end luxury watch conventions such as the Grand Prix d'horologerie de Genéve© or the Geneva Watch Days© the brand has received great attention from a global audience of watchmakers.

Recently. the Konvi community was able to invest in a 1 out of only 137 limited edition Cabestan Winch Tourbillon featuring a unique green leather strap and black case.

Conclusion

In conclusion, Cabestan Geneve transcends the confines of traditional watchmaking, offering a fusion of precision, artistry, and innovation. Each watch tells a story of dedication, craftsmanship, and timeless design. Cabestan Geneve isn't just a brand; it's a legacy that continues to inspire and captivate watch enthusiasts worldwide.
